A content management system is a computer software or you can say application that allows you to manage, edit, publish, and modifying the content. This system can do work with manual or some automatic steps are taken to complete the desired task. Content management systems are used to create websites, blogs. The main feature of the CMS is you don’t need to hand code your website or with the very little coding knowledge any one can create websites using these applications.

WordPress is the free open source tool to create blog and a content management system created using PHP. WordPress is the most popular CMS used by more than 60 million websites and more than 18.9 % of the top 10 million websites on the web. It has a various easy to use functions such as themes, plugins. Themes make wordpress very easy to customize and plugins allows it to extend effectively.
What is Joomla ?
Same as wordpress, joomla is free and open source content management system for publishing web content. Joomla is created using PHP and Mysql as a database. Like the wordpress plugin features joomla also have extension feature and over 6000 free and commercial extensions are available for joomla.
I hope you are now clear with all the doubt. Now for the core part of this article. I divide the comparison into some points-
WordPress Vs Joomla
Content Management & Usability
According to content management if we compare both the CMS, wordpress is better than the joomla.I feel that wordpress is more user friendly than joomla. And according to statistics wordpress is also more popular than joomla. According to me wordpress is better for dynamic sites such as blog whereas joomla is better choice for static site.
Themes and Customization
This point is really confusing because both the CMS have great templates available but I personally feel that joomla templates are more versatile as compared to the wordpress. I can’t make decision which one is better according to design.
Plugins and Extensions
Plugins allow you to extend the feature of the site. Both the CMS have extensions provided but more numbers of extensions are available for wordpress than the joomla provided. But much plugins available for wordpress is for blog type sites whereas joomla extensions are much wider.

Search Engine Optimization
Without any doubt wordpress is better than joomla. The SEO compatibility of the wordpress is because of the powerful plugins availablefor it. We can’t just avoid joomla in the matter of SEO but it is clear that wordpress is better than joomla at the part of SEO.
According to all above points I can’t decide which CMS is better to use. If you want to built a blog like site then the wordpress is the better choice but if you want a static site then you should go for joomla. Yes wordpress is more user friendly and easier to customize and also better for the SEO but the community support of the Joomla is much better than the wordpress. I think joomla and wordpress war will continue.
